International Exploration: Lisbon MADE January 11, 2016 Travel MADE by: Carri Cowan Despite being the oldest city in Western Europe, Lisbon has managed to remain relevant to us Next Gen travelers. Recommended repeatedly to me by grad school friends who managed to check it out during their study abroad semesters, I had to check it out for myself. And it certainly lived up to the hype. The coastal location of the city offers the wonderful gift of incredibly fresh seafood and amazing wines. Historical sites are abundant, but my only suggestion for a typical touristy activity is to attend a Fado show which entails sumptuous dinner over the sounds of soulful talented Portuguese singers. Otherwise hit the cobbled streets of Barrio Alto, following the sounds of music and people in the streets for a fun night out. Make the time to travel to the Algarve region, a beach town where you’ll find a luxurious accommodations and the perfect set up to work on your tan.
